Miles EV working on Highway Speed Electric Vehicle
Santa Monica, California based Miles Electric Vehicles have been working on the XS500 Sedan. This little electro beast can go 80mph (thats 129km/h for us Metric folk) for roughly 240 mins. Also the battery is expected to last 100 000 miles (160 000 km) before needing replacing.
Rumour around the interwebs is that it will sell around $35k and it is being manufactured in China for sale in the United States. If you want to drive fast but can’t afford a Tesla this may be the car for you.

Surmonte,
Finally, a model for a hybrid sedan that looks nice, isn’t slow, is affordable and has a quality battery life. Many hybrid owners, and informed consumers, have been worried about the battery life, as dead cells steal live cells energy, and the batteries are fairly expensive. This model could be a step in the right direction. Do you know if the battery is lithium ion?
Also, if you are interested in hybrid’s you might want to check out TheIssue.com which recently did a daily feature on the economics of buying a hybrid that pointed out a lot of interesting, and peculiar, details about the green machines.
Cheers,
Mike

Still too rich for my blood.
@Mike thanks for the information. Hopefully soon buying a Electric Car/Hybrid will be a no brainer. Good site site with both sides of the issue.

Well… I think that companies like Miles should look at Denmark for their first test market. Over here a very very small car will set you back some 20.000 dollar. A midsize sedan, like a PT Cruiser, will cost some 48.000 dollar and petrol is now at 8 dollar/gallon!!!!!
On the other hand, all EVs are tax exempt and that means that an EV imported from the US would be quite cheap here and have a massive incentive as it does not use petrol at 8 dollar/gallon.
Also Denmark is a very small country and as an average 80% of Danes only drive 40 miles per day!
See the advantage?!
So I pray that some US EV manufacturers will realise this and start selling their cars in Denmark. They would make a killing here… and could use that positive cash flow to further growth in the US (while at the same time gaining some valuable expirience in exporting cars… which also is good for the US economy in general!)
SO… start looking at our little country to sell your EVs!!!!!!!!
;o)

Danny

The tax exemption for electric vehicles is a great idea, one I am pushing for here in the US.
